August 16 – Back to School Blessing Sunday
Title: A Broken Hearted God
Scripture: Hosea 11:1-11
Topic Sentence: God wants us to come home, to be at home with ourselves and with one another. We long to return to a home and community that loves each one into living the life we were meant to live. And that is also the longing at the heart of God.
Title: We Need Each Other
Scripture: Hebrews 10:24-25
Title Sentence: We begin our spiritual lives by trusting in Christ , but we sustain our spiritual life being connected. A healthy spiritual life is only found in realizing we need each other to make it to the end.
Title: The Unexpected Harvest
Scripture: Isaiah 5:1-7
Topic Sentence: God gives us the conditions for fruitfulness, but does not provide the specifications. There is a community out there waiting for you and me. Our fruitfulness may take a form very different from what we expect. Our harvest may surprise us. The strangest grapes can conceal the sweetest taste. All it takes is stepping out in faith, joining together, going, and offering others a new beginning.
